TechBoston Academy School-Based Health Center

TechBoston Academy’s School-Based Health Center offers extensive services to students and staff, beyond what is offered in the school nurse’s office. The clinic is open whenever the school is open, and patients can drop by, text, or call to make an appointment. Students must have a pass from class and a signed consent form in order to be seen. All services are confidential.

Primary Care

Jane Tuitt, NP, is a nurse practitioner and has run the TechBoston clinic since it opened in 1995. She is the primary care provider at the clinic.

Students who have a primary care provider elsewhere do not have to change their provider to enroll and use the services of the health center.

The clinic offers extensive services, including:

  • Well visits (physical exams)
  • Sports physicals
  • Sick visits
  • Vaccines
  • Blood draws
  • Family Planning services
  • STI testing and treatment

Why Enroll My Child?

  • Enroll your child early for immediate access to a health care provider in the event he or she is not feeling well, has an injury, needs a vaccine, sports physical, working papers, emotional support.
  • The clinic is convenient and available to all enrolled students, even if they have a primary care provider elsewhere.
  • Students can get services regardless of their ability to pay.
  • Students who need a primary care provider can choose Nurse Practitioner Jane Tuitt who has decades of experience treating children of all ages.
  • Care is available 12 months a year. Students can visit our main campus at 637 Washington Street in the summer and throughout the year.

Wednesday: 7:30 am – 11 am

Dental Care

Dr. Ganga Subedi sees TechBoston students and staff for routine dental care. Call the clinic to make an appointment. She offers:

  • Exams
  • Cleanings
  • X-rays
  • Fillings
  • Extractions
  • Referrals for braces and oral surgery as needed

Behavioral Health

TechBoston offers students and staff behavioral health services five days a week. Melissa Dagher, MSW, LICSW, runs the programming and has many years of experience. There are two BH interns who work with her at TechBoston. To have a session with one of our behavioral health clinicians, call to make an appointment.

  • Long-term one-on-one therapy
  • Short-term one-on-one therapy
  • Trauma-informed treatment
  • Weekly student support meetings
  • Middle school girls group discussions
  • Staff and teacher psycho-education and support

Support Services

Lidouine LeBeau, TechBoston’s community health worker, can help students access important community services. Lidouine speaks Haitian Creole. To see Lidouine, drop by the clinic during school hours. As the office manager of the clinic, she can also:

  • Greet students at the front desk
  • Make appointments
  • Remind patients about appointments
  • Assist parents and guardians with paperwork

Jane Tuitt with TB Peer LeaderAdditional Programming

  • Peer Leaders. TechBoston students who would like to support their peers in healthy living can participate in the clinic’s peer leader program. For more information contact the clinic.
  • Parent Nights. Tech Boston hosts parent nights to provide students and their families flu and COVID vaccines, blood pressure screenings, and health education. Ask us about our next scheduled night.
  • Health Fairs. Our annual health fairs offer screenings, information about outside vendors, peer assistance, and more.
  • Café Tables. Peer leaders or clinic staff host tables during all 3 lunches in the TechBoston cafeteria.

Jane Tuitt, NP

Primary Care

Jane Tuitt is a nurse practitioner and has run the TechBoston clinic since it opened in 1995. She is the primary care provider at the clinic. Jane provides medical services to TechBoston students, including physical exams, sports physicals, assessment and treatment of illnesses, injury care, health assessments and prevention counseling.

Dental

Dr. Subedi, TechBoston’s Dental Director, has years of experience in various dental care settings internationally and nationally. She is passionate about serving those in need and has traveled to Nepal each year since 2012 to conduct free dental camps in rural villages.

Behavioral Health

Melissa Dagher, MSW, LICSW, runs the BH programming at TechBoston and has many years of experience in the field. Areas of specialty and expertise include racial identity, racial trauma, sexual and gender identity and intersectionality. She utilizes Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness in supporting patients to find relief from trauma and life’s many stressors.

Community Health Worker

Lidouine LeBeau, TechBoston’s community health worker, can help students access important community services. Lidouine has been in the health care sector for the past 20 years. She has lived in Dorchester for most of her life. Lidouine speaks Haitian Creole and is always joyful to come to work at TechBoston.

Frequently Asked Questions

Call the Call Center (617) 825-9660 and tell the receptionist you would like to request a referral to a specialist. Leave a number that you can be contacted back at throughout the day. Let them know what type of referral you are requesting. Make sure you have seen your provider within the past year or understand that an appointment may be necessary for the provider to make an assessment prior to initiating the referral.
