Adult Education

Clemente Course in the Humanities

In partnership with the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities, Codman is proud to offer Boston adults the Clemente Course. It is a program that trains in the core areas of the humanities to promote personal growth, intellectual development, and civic engagement for adults in our community. Codman has offered it for almost 20 years.

The Clemente Course in the Humanities offers high-quality education to 20 to 30 Boston residents over the course of 10 months. Students study Art History, Philosophy, American History, Literature, and Writing and Critical Thinking. Studying these topics encourages people to expand their cultural knowledge, improve their academic skills, and  increase their confidence.

The Clemente Course is accredited by Bard College and qualifies students for six college credits upon successful completion of the program.
