Rachel Bervell, M.D., M.S.
Education: University of Illinois College of Medicine, Boston Medical Center, First Year Resident
Rachel is the daughter of Ghanaian immigrants and grew up in the Greater Seattle area. She attended Harvard University where she concentrated in Social & Cognitive Neuroscience and received a secondary degree in Health Policy & Global Health. Prior to medical school, she studied at Georgetown University and developed her interest in healthcare delivery and disparities research. At the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, she was committed to partnering with others especially at their most vulnerable times and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for her dedication; she was a scholar in both the Urban Medicine Program and Patient-Centered Medicine Program where her understanding of health systems helped empower underserved patients to take ownership of their wellbeing. She founded the nonprofit Hugs for Ghana, has worked on quality improvement projects in Tanzania, served on the national board of the March of Dimes, loves to mentor minority students, and uses her social media (Instagram: The Black ObGyn Project) to creatively educate on various health topics. She is thrilled to bring her passion for maternal & child health, reproductive justice, population health, and community engagement to BMC.
