Kayla Johnson, MD, MPH
Family Medicine Resident Physician
Education: Medical College of Wisconsin, Third Year Resident
Languages: English
Biography:
Kayla is a proud native of the north side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She’s an alumna of Xavier University of Louisiana, a historically black university known for its robust pre-med program. While there, she developed an interest in public health and service, and decided to complete a year with City Year Milwaukee, an AmeriCorps educational non-profit dedicated to teaching and providing support to students in low-performing schools.
She then went to the Medical College of Wisconsin, where she became the community service chair at the school’s chapter of the Student National Medical Association. Knowing she wanted to combine her passions for preventive medicine, primary care, health equity and advocacy to positively impact the health of under-resourced communities of color, she decided on Family Medicine as a specialty. She also earned her MPH from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Social and Behavioral Sciences. Outside of work, Kayla enjoys West African and Latin Dance, going to museums, live concerts and–like a true millennial–brunching.
