Clemente Course in the Humanities

In partnership with the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities, Codman is proud to offer the Clemente Course, a program that uses training in the core areas of the humanities to promote the personal growth, intellectual development and civic engagement of adults in our community.

The Clemente Course in the Humanities offers high-quality education and instruction to a group of 20-30 residents of Boston over a period of ten months. The study of Art History, Philosophy, American History, Literature, Writing and Critical Thinking, encourages developing students to expand cultural knowledge, academic skills and increases self-confidence. This program also creates a strategy to ensure the continuation of academic growth.

The Course is accredited by Bard College and qualifies students for six college credits upon successful completion of the program.

The Clemente Course has been at Codman Square Health Center since 2001.
