Winter Farmers’ Market Grand Opening a Success

‎”The question has been answered… It is clear that we should have a winter farmers’ market.” - Representative Russell Holmes.

The Winter Market—one of the only farmers’ markets in Boston this season—opened at Noon on Sunday, January 8 and will continue from Noon to 3 p.m. each Sunday through March.

We Have Broken Ground on Our Expansion

With support from Governor Deval Patrick, Mayor Tom Menino and a number of other elected officials, Codman Square Health Center broke ground on their $18 million dollar expansion, the Codman Square Health and Education Center, on Wednesday, October 26. In partnership with Codman Academy Foundation, the Codman Square Health Center will expand their capacity to give healthcare, social services, the arts, and education to the Dorchester community through it’s new building. Codman Square holds an innovative vision of bringing healthcare and education together (recognized by winning one of Boston’s first Mayoral Prize for Innovations in Primary Care last year), and this new expansion will serve as a marker for a new phase for Codman Square, as the culture of health and wellness is continued to be fostered in the ever vibrant and diverse Dorchester community.

Funding for the Codman Square Health and Education Center was given by contributions from numerous corporate sponsors and through the health center’s fund-raising. $7.95 million was also contributed through the Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Construction of the new expansion is expected to finish in September 2012.
